Poverty, unemployment and increasingly high rates of
homelessness weigh heavily upon some of the most
vulnerable members of society. In order to overcome
these obstacles and to ensure that our homeless
families permanently escape their poverty, Casa
Nueva Vida, Inc. has developed the following
programs:
-
Computer/ Job Training
Program: The goal of this program is
to provide homeless mothers with basic/advance
computer skills in order to obtain employment in
a related area and become independent of public
assistance.
-
Technical Elective
Courses - (TEC): will be included in
our Educational Program Curriculum to provide an
opportunity for “Selected” residents to prepare
for State Examinations and Microsoft
Certifications for Technical Careers. All
TEC courses will be aligned with Microsoft
examinations (or preparation for examination)
and approved by the Instructor and the President
and CEO of Casa Nueva Vida, Inc.
-
English (ESOL) Program:
The English as a Second Language
Program is offered to all residents that have
the need to improve their reading, written and
speaking skills.
-
Personal Empowerment
Program: The program provides an
opportunity for women to discuss and better cope
with the problems of domestic violence and low
self-esteem, while offering practical knowledge
about health, nutrition and parenting that can
be of great benefit to homeless and non-homeless
mothers alike.
-
Children’s / Teen’s
Education Program: The Children’s
Education Program is of great value in helping
our residents and their children to overcome
obstacles to learning, to reach a high standard
of educational success, and to continue that
success upon leaving the shelter.
Other services are given
along with programs such as:
- Professional Counseling and Family Life Advocate
- Housing Advocate and Housing Support
- On Call Nurse and Supervision
